What do shareholdersactually own?
SoFi keeps adding members while its Technology Platform contracts. The harder test for the stock is what each share earns, and how much of the app still runs on loans.

The breakdown
Is each share winning?
Can Anthony Noto turn deeper customer relationships into durable earnings per share, or does the ever-broader app still depend on the same lending cycle?
It started with a student loan.
SoFi began by refinancing student loans, then added deposits, investing, cards and a bank charter to sell more to the same members.
The banking loop.
Deposits fund loans more cheaply than warehouse lines: the average deposit rate ran 1.56 percentage points below warehouse funding in Q2. 51% of new products went to existing members, up from 35% a year earlier.
Sources 3Follow the money.
The $6.2B first-half operating cash outflow is mostly loans held for sale, while deposits flowed in. That makes it a funding story, not a software cash-flow story.
Sources 1The hidden dependency.
Loan-platform fees ($140.9M) sit inside Financial Services, not Lending. Growth outside the segment named Lending can still depend on originating loans and on outside investors wanting them. That is disclosed segment accounting, not concealment.
Sources 1Two loss rates, two bases.
The reported personal-loan charge-off rate was 2.62%; management's all-in estimate was about 3.7%. They measure different things, and both improved from the prior quarter.
What each share earns.
Diluted share count grew about 14% year over year. At $15.09 and a ~$0.60 adjusted EPS outlook, the stock trades near 25 times expected adjusted earnings.
Two endings
Where this could go
Members become earnings.
- Existing-member adoption turns into better economics per product.
- Deposits and partners fund growth efficiently.
- Enterprise revenue stabilizes and per-share earnings rise with stable credit.
Still a lending cycle underneath.
- Diversification keeps more credit-cycle dependence than the valuation assumes.
- Weaker loan-sale pricing or worsening loss measures squeeze profit.
- The share count rises without matching EPS gains.
Scenarios, not predictions. Not financial advice.

How we researched this
Quarterly comparisons are Q2 2026 versus Q2 2025 unless stated. GAAP figures, management's non-GAAP measures, business metrics and forecasts are kept separate.
Technology Platform revenue is the segment measure, not consolidated technology-products revenue. The two credit rates treat delinquent-loan sales and recoveries differently. Forecast adjusted EPS and actual quarterly GAAP EPS describe different bases and periods.
