This policy explains what happens to information about you when you visit www.thequestforprofits.com ("the site"), run by Quest for Profits ("we"). We wrote it to match exactly what the site does today.
The short version
- You don't sign up for anything, and the site has no forms for visitors.
- We don't run analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.
- We don't set cookies on your device unless you open the owner's admin page (see the cookie notice).
- Like every website, our host records basic server logs.
- The site loads fonts from Google and video thumbnails from YouTube, and loads the YouTube player only when you press play.
What we collect
Server logs. When your browser asks for a page, the server that hosts the site (our hosting provider, hosting.com) records standard technical details: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser's user-agent string. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure, and they're kept for as long as the host's settings retain them. We don't use them to identify or profile visitors.
Email you send us. If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to correct our research, and we don't sell or share it.
That's all. We don't ask for your name, we don't run accounts for visitors, and we don't buy data about you.
Third parties the site uses
Google Fonts. Pages use fonts served by Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). To deliver them, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address and browser details. See Google's privacy policy and the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
YouTube thumbnails. Film pages and the library show each film's thumbnail image, loaded from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com). Your browser connects to it the same way it would for any image, which shares your IP address and browser details with Google, YouTube's owner.
The YouTube player, only when you press play. A film page shows a still poster. Nothing from YouTube's player loads until you press play or pick a chapter. Then the page loads YouTube's player script (from youtube.com) and plays the film in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). From that moment YouTube's own terms and privacy policy apply, and YouTube may store information on your device and collect information about how you watch. See Google's privacy policy.
Links to other sites. Our research links to SEC filings, company sites and news. When you follow a link, you're on that site and its own policy applies.
Cookies
The site doesn't use cookies for visitors. The only cookie belongs to the site owner's admin page. The details are in the cookie and third-party notice.
Children
The site is for a general adult audience interested in public companies. It isn't aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
Your choices
You can block cookies and third-party requests in your browser settings, and the site still works (fonts fall back to your system's fonts; films can be watched on YouTube instead). If you've emailed us and want that email deleted, ask us at geoff@thequestforprofits.com and we will.
Changes
If the site starts doing anything new with your information, such as adding analytics or ads, we'll update this page before that starts and change the date below.
